Unquestionably one of the greatest “be bop blues” guitarists, as I’ve mentioned before, is the inimitable Grant Green.
In my estimation, one of his greatest solos over a major blues is on the recording of his composition Miss Annes Tempo.
I’ve spent some time studying and transcribing this tune and I want to post it especially to show how a master uses what I talked about in the previous article, what I call “Cool Tones”.
Grant Green seamlessly integrates blues and the be bop language of Charlie Parker. That plus his sound makes him a personal favorite of mine. I hope you find this helpful. Let me know. Thanks.
